| [Rant] Finally some HW opportunity for OS4? It's up to *you*! | Link |

Everyone interested will be able to get the whole shebang completely for free. This will be a major happening in many ways; it will in fact be a rather unique thing in the whole industry, and it could (and hopefully *will*) have a great positive impact on our little Amiga community, especially for OS4! Finally there might be a proven, well-known and validated hardware solution for this OS! :-)

However this does not include the recent changeds from the m68k/OS4 developer or modifications from the Morphos developer(s). What would it take to get these code changes added to the GPL code, so we can have a unified effort and a filesystem for all? Perhaps we can organise some funding/effort to enable us all to have a good, stable, supported filesystem for the future? I am certainly willing to put some money on the table.. thoughts ?

For almost 5 years he's been trying to talk me into returning to the Amiga and buying one of these new systems, he's always filling me in on the newest issues of the day, and how the Amiga overcomes the problems being faced by a new system in todays world...

| [Rant] Disillusions daily: Cell is not going to happen | Link |
| Posted on 27-Jun-2005 11:28 GMT by Oppressor | 133 comments (107k) View flat (1, 2, 3) View list Add comment | | My initial enthusiasm regarding Cell has vanished almost completely. I followed a Cell seminar held in Barcelona via internet broadcast (http://www.power.org) and I visited a Cell seminar held at the Linuxtag (http://www.linuxtag.de) in Karlsruhe. Thanks to these seminars there are now more open questions than answers, and my prospect is that Cell is not going to happen on the Amiga or any other desktop computer.

Anyone asked it self why there aren't any real official AmigaOne web page with nice presentation of the products that this brand covers. What is happening with the main actors?

When will we know which one is suited, anyway?

| [Rant] How will Eyetech deal with the 'issues' in the A1 against customers? | Link |
| Posted on 30-Sep-2004 19:43 GMT by Worried A1 owner | 131 comments (93k) View flat (1, 2, 3) View list Add comment | | I have an AmigaOne XE G4. It cost me a lot of money. It's fairly new and covered by warranty. How will Eyetech compensate me for it's 'issues'/design flaws? Will they
a) Offer me a full refund or a new WORKING motherboard as replacement for free? Since it looks like it's a design flaw with the A1 XE motherboard I would GLADLY accept returning my A1 XE and get a motherboard with new design, like Micro A1 with raiser card instead.
b) Give me for free any and all required additional hardware required to get the AmigaOne product fully working, like UDMA IDE on a PCI card? Second best option but I would still know that my expensive hardware is a bit 'crippled' (perhaps a too strong word?) beneath it and I would still worry about more undiscovered issues.
c) Offer me to send in the motherboard for free for them to "patch"? This would not be pleasant since I would be without my AmigaOne for the time this takes
d) Simply sit silent and wait until the warranty expires before acknowledging the problems? NOT acceptable! :-/

| [Rant] IT'S TIME TO RESPECT EACH OTHER | Link |

Who on each side is prepared to bury the past, treat the other side(s) with respect and DEBATE instead of ARGUE? One golden rule... whoever signs up should try and remeber the names of the others doing the same and treat them with the respect which they would like to be shown to themselves. Anyone against it should then be ignored by the group in order to avoid flamefests.
Here is the reasoning behind the idea:
